Crime Report: April 22, 2005

An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred on April 19 at 6:40 p.m. near 55th and Kimbark Avenue. A 13-year-old boy reported that while playing basketball, he was approached by five teenage boys, one of whom demanded his Michael Jordan Nike gym shoes. The victim refused and one of the offenders struck him with a closed fist, knocking him to ground. They then attempted to pull his shoes off, but failed and fled the scene.

A robbery occurred on April 19 near the 5300 block of South Cornell at 4:30 p.m. A man reportedly was walking down Cornell Avenue when he encountered three men. They pushed him to the ground and struck him until he fell unconscious. They fled after taking $30 dollars from the victim.
