Ding Dong, Bolton’s Nomination is Dead!

Hooray for

Hooray for the termination of John Bolton’s recess appointment to the United Nations! I never quite understood what the White House was thinking when they nominated that guy. Why would you want a man who advocated the abolition of an organization to be your representative to the very same organization? That is, unless you wanted to abolish it yourself. For that and many other reasons, Bolton was impotent before he even walked into the General Assembly. And given that we need all the diplomacy and multilateral cooperation we can get right now, Bolton seems like the last guy you would want talking to foreign governments.

Mr. Bolton’s critics say he is abrasive and represents a hard-line, conservative ideology at odds with the multilateral approach needed at the United Nations.

My suggested replacement…Mr. George Anesi.
