CTA Board to decide fate of UChicago bus contract

Despite an announcement made earlier this school year that the University would terminate its contract with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) in August, the CTA Board will vote on an agreement to maintain the service at a monthly Board meeting tomorrow, according to CTA spokesperson Lambrini Lukidis. The agreement would allow the four existing bus routes to continue for the next five years, according to RedEye.

The routes included in the agreement are the 170 U. of Chicago/Midway, 171 U. of Chicago/Hyde Park, 172 U. of Chicago/Kenwood, and the 192 U. of Chicago Hospitals Express, RedEye reported. The originally planned discontinuation of the service was said to be the result of financial considerations.

CTA media representatives and the UChicago News Office declined to comment until the conclusion of tomorrow’s Board meeting.
