While the Maroons have been busy celebrating playoff berths and league championships on the field, they clearly have not been neglecting their studies.
The league announced October 26 that Chicago had 68 athletes recognized on the UAA Fall All-Academic list out of 467 total selections. Football led the way with 18 players named, followed by women’s soccer with 15, men’s cross country with 12, 9 each for women’s cross country and men’s soccer, and 5 for volleyball.
The University’s mark gives them 14.6% representation on the list, slightly above their proportionate share.
The league recognizes student-athletes with a full year of college study who carry at least a 3.2 GPA. The standard is the same as the qualifying mark for Academic All-American selection. The UAA had 25 Academic All-Americans named in the 2004-2005 academic year.
