About a dozen students gathered last Thursday to drink free soda, eat free food, and find out what happened with Jim and Pam’s ongoing will-they-won’t-they relationship on the hour-long season finale of The Office. Sponsored by ORCSA, the ORCSA Sweeps will continue through Wednesday of this week in Hallowed Grounds and feature big-screen projections of television finales for shows such as 24, Boston Legal, and Lost.
“The general idea was to have a place for students to get together to see these finales,” said Dana Bozeman, ORCSA Campus Activities coordinator. “People like to host their own parties sometimes, but for students on campus, we wanted to have a place for them to go.”
During commercial breaks, students bought candy, chips, and soda with ORCSA vouchers that Bozeman distributed, returning in time to watch Dwight, the show’s resident calculator watch–wielding beet farmer, paint his entire new office black. (“It’s like outer space without the stars, it’s so black,” Dwight says.)
Bozeman said The Office drew the largest crowd because of its popularity on campus, but she expects large groups for the finales of Lost and 24.
“Basically, it’s just a place for students to hang out and have fun,” she said.
ORCSA Sweeps continue today with Dancing with the Stars at 7 p.m. and Boston Legal at 8 p.m.
