Free weekdays at MSI

The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), located at East 57th Street and South Lake Shore Drive, is offering free basic admission to Illinois residents every weekday this January.

Illinois residents must present valid proof of residence in order to receive free admission. According to Beth Boston, a public relations manager, students can use University IDs to also receive free admission on these days.

Basic admission includes access to most of the museum’s permanent collection but does not include access to special exhibitions, which must be purchased individually.

The MSI offers free entrance for Illinois residents 52 days per year and says that about 45 percent of its visitors enter this way. It offers at least one Illinois Free Day every month except in April, July, and August. Regular admission to the museum begins at $27 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $18 for children, with a slight discount for Chicago residents.
