Hyde Parkers marched yesterday in the neighborhood’s traditional parade.

Representative Barbara Flynn Currie, whose resignation opened up a competitive race for her seat in the state house, has long been a fixture at Hyde Park’s 4th on 53rd parade.
Bagpipers and a firetruck led the parade. ()Toni Preckwinkle, Hyde Parker, Cook County Board president, and sometime Statue of Liberty dress-a-like, was one of several local politicians represented at the parade. ()()Some parade conveyances were less involved. ()Two full-fledged marching bands participated. ()Cub Scout Pack 53 and Boy Scout Troop 599 marched together ()Members of the Jackson Park Yacht Club built their float on an aquatic theme. ()()()One of two contingents of martial arts students, the pupils at Pure Woori Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy took turns taking shots at punching bags as they marched. ()A mounted contingent wrapped up the parade. ()
