Memoryhouse Magazine will distribute copies of its latest issue (on the theme of “mute”) and feature spoken word from its performance ensemble Memento at its launch party. Refreshments will be served.

Blackstone Bike Shop Art Show Opening Reception 

Blackstone Bicycle Works, 5–8 p.m., free.

Check out the original artwork made by the members of Blackstone Bicycle Works’ youth education program at their second-ever art exhibition! The show, which includes drawings, photography, and bike-traveled electronics, will also feature guest artists and live performances.

Le Vorris and Vox Circus Presents: The Master and Margarita 

Ida Noyes, 7:30 p.m., $3 in advance, $5 at the door.

Through incredible circus acts, Le Vorris and Vox will ponder the profound questions contained in Mikhail Bulgakov’s famous novel about the devil’s visit to the Soviet Union. Friday’s show will be followed by a fire show, and Saturday’s show will be free.  

The Underground Collective presents: As Is the Garden 

The Revival, 7:30–9 p.m., free.

Celebrate the long-awaited arrival of spring with the Underground Collective at its quarterly showcase. With acts ranging from poetry to dance to song, the show is bound to be a heart-warming meditation on what it means to be the “gardeners” of our own gardens.  

Saturday [5/26] 

University Symphony Orchestra: Bernstein & Brahms 

Mandel Hall, 8–9:30 p.m., free.

The USO’s final concert of the quarter celebrates the work of Leonard Bernstein and Johannes Brahms and will feature artist-in-residence Daniel Pesca on piano in Bernstein’s “Age of Anxiety.” There will be a pre-concert lecture with professor Thomas Christensen in the McCormick Tribune Lounge at 7 p.m., and there will be a second performance on Sunday, May 27, at 3 p.m. 

Sunday [5/27] 

Darmiyaan 

Smart Museum, 3–4 p.m., free.

Sabba Elahi, who examines Muslim identity and politics through text and textile, will collaborate with dancer-choreographer Ahalya Satkunaratnam to present a performance that explores the global war on terror.
