Spektral Quartet: Full Disclosure  

Fulton Hall, 5 p.m., free 

The artist-in-residence string quartet will be hosting an interactive session that dives into the early development phase of a piece and decision-making processes that lead up to an actual performance.  

Wednesday [10/24] 

Pillars of Thought: Audrius Plioplys Exhibit and Reception 

Stevanovich Institute on the Formation of Knowledge, 5737 S. University Ave, 5 p.m., free 

Working artist and neuroscientist Audrius Plioplys will discuss how his work merges the two fields through a cross-disciplinary investigation into thinking and consciousness. His works have been displayed internationally, as well as at the Oriental Institute and Rockefeller Chapel.

Rockefeller Chapel at 90: A Gala Performance 

Rockefeller Chapel, 7:30 p.m., free 

Celebrate the iconic campus landmark’s 90th birthday with an eclectic series of performers including the Hyde Park Youth Symphony, the South Asian Music ensemble, and the Chapel Choir featuring the premiere of a new work. There will be a reception afterward.  

UChicago Presents: Seong-Jin Cho 

Mandel Hall, 7:30 p.m., $38/$30 faculty and staff/$10 students 

Winner of the prestigious Chopin International Competition in 2015, concert pianist Seong-Jin Cho makes his Chicago debut with a program of virtuosic and fantastical works by Bach, Mussorgsky, Schubert, and Chopin. There will be a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m.

Shadi Habib Allah Walk-Through 

Renaissance Society, 2 p.m., free 

Explore the latest exhibit with a guided tour by Solveig Øvstebø, executive director and chief curator of the Renaissance Society. The Palestinian artist’s Put to Rights is a multimedia examination of how objects circulate through various networks.  

Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre: My Past / Our Present 

Logan Center, 7:30 p.m., $30 in advance/$35 at the door/$5 discount for students and seniors 

The Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre’s latest four works explore identity and belonging in a performance that fuses dance and a live jazz band for a moving and compelling show.  

Masquerade Ball 

Smart Museum of Art, 8–10 p.m., free 

Indulge in after-hours fun at the Smart with the annual Masquerade Ball featuring food, a costume contest, and exclusive access to the galleries. 

Monday [10/29] 

Conversation with Artist Philippe Parreno 

Logan Penthouse 901, 6:30 p.m., free 

Known for his work on media technologies and their manipulation of time, French artist Philippe Parreno will sit down for a conversation with visiting professor Ina Blom and visiting scholar Jörn Schafaff. The event will feature selected excerpts of Parreno’s film work. Audience Q&A and reception to follow.
