A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 5400 block of South University Avenue at 8:25 p.m. on January 14. Final police reports of the incident were only recently filed this week.

A man was walking alone down South University Avenue, where five men approached him and knocked him to the ground, according to police reports. The five men reportedly punched and kicked him as they tried to take possession of his iPod. A University police officer happened on the scene shortly thereafter, and called for assistance in apprehending the attackers. Officers recovered the victim’s iPod and arrested four of the five suspects, including a 14-year-old, 15-year-old, and two 17-year-old men. All four suspects face robbery charges, with the 14- and 15-year-old boys to appear in juvenile court. The two 17-year-old suspects were charged as adults and face additional felony charges.
