An update on local crime

April 23, 2:34 p.m.A man was seen taking wood from a construction site on the 5800 block of South Maryland Avenue and placing it in his car. He was soon arrested by UCPD officers.

April 25, 6:10 p.m.A man returning home discovered an intruder in his apartment on the 5500 block of South Everett Street. The offender, who was holding a hammer, yelled for the victim to step back. The victim complied and the offender grabbed the victim’s backpack and fled the scene, taking with him a laptop and other property. The offender is described as a black male, approximately 35 years of age, 5’9”, and 200 pounds.

April 26, 8:45 p.m.A man riding his bicycle on the 4600 block of South Greenwood Avenue was pushed off by 10 unknown men, who proceeded to beat him. The offenders then stole the bicycle and fled.
