New Supreme Court vacancy?

Steve Dillard at Southern Appeal

Steve Dillard at Southern Appeal (via ConfirmThem) has some speculation about a possible Supreme Court vacancy in the very near future (like, tomorrow?!?). His pick is Stevens, and former U of C law professor Michael McConnell, currently a federal appellate judge, is being floated around as a replacement. I read McConnell’s name as a possible replacement for both the Rehnquist and O’Connor seats, so he is clearly a contender. As Dillard notes, the Federalists would be awfully happy with that one.
