They’re magical because the AP seems to think that only one side can break them. This is the lede* in a piece headlined, “Israel threatens to renew attacks”:

After weeks of restraint, Israel said Wednesday that it will renew attacks on rocket-launching militants in the Gaza Strip threatening to derail an already shaky, month-old truce.

Right. Let me get this straight: “rocket-launching militants” haven’t derailed a truce but Israel “renew attacks on rocket-launching militants” will? Right.Hat tip LGF.*Evidently, “lede” is the correct spelling of the term that describes the first sentence(s) in a news story. I just learned that from the NYTimes blog of the same name.
