The Maroons (11–1, 0–1) fell from 19th to 22nd in the D3hoops.com poll while climbing from 21st to 20th in the USA Today/ESPN standings in rankings released Wednesday. The shift in the D3hoops.com ranking came on the heels of the team’s first defeat of the year, a 78–58 road loss to rival Wash U.
However, there was plenty of movement in the USA Today/ESPN poll, with UW–LaCrosse (13–1) falling to 21st from 17th and UW–Oshkosh (10–4) falling to 24th from 19th to offset the rise of McMurry (12–0) from 23rd to 18th, allowing Chicago to take advantage. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association voters have never ranked the Maroons higher.
Chicago will take on Case (8–4, 1–0) at Cleveland tonight, and heads down to Atlanta for a bout with Emory (10–2, 0–1) Sunday afternoon.
