An article in Thursday’s Maroon mis-stated Northwestern law professor James Lindgren’s role in the investigation of John Lott, whose research arguing in support of private gun ownership has come into question. Lindgren looked into the claims of other scholars that Lott has fabricated a 1997 study and was unable to reach any firm conclusions one way or the other. Also, Lindgren’s investigation of former Emory professor Michael Bellesiles helped uncover fraudulent and unsubstantiated assertions. The Maroon sincerely regrets the error.
